Great app

This works great.I have the Slingbox 500 .I recently exchanged my cable modem to a newer one plus increased my broadband to 100mps. I had problems hooking this up wifi to a new Asus WiFi router I bought so I decided to go lan line connected directly to my Cable Modem it started working again remotely like it should and depending on your data speeds (LTE) it's awesome. Although my iPad can only connect to wifi it's working great also. I want to get the iPhone 6+ because the screen is much bigger then my iPhone 5. There is more features on the iPad version of SlingPlayer then the iPhone version which I wish the phone had but as long as it gets the job done of watching my homes TV channels it dose just fine. Just wish the price was lower when you purchase the apps but once you got it working it's awesome and I think it's better connecting your Slingbox to your cable modem or your routers extra ports for some reason it seems much better.

What a great box!

My Slingbox 500 is the third Slingbox I've owned in about 8 years. I had reconfigured part of my home network and I began to have difficulties with the Solo that I've owned since 2011. Figuring that the changes in technology - streaming, bandwidth, and the ability to stream hi-def signals, I decided to stop fighting the old Solo and purchase the 500. I'm so glad I did. The setup was much easier than the Solo, with on-screen setup that was far better than the older unit. It also made connection to the internet for remote viewing much easier. With my iPads and iPhone the 500 showed up immediately so there was no problem connecting to it. I have a daughter in the Chicago area and she was able to log on with her iPad. She and her husband will be able to use AirPlay to watch it on their big TV. Since they're cable cutters they'll be able to watch the Ducks/Bucks game from my home.

Way to go, Sling Media. It's a great product.

Time is money and the time I spent trying to get the older unit to work certainly began to wear on me.

I highly recommend the Slingbox 500. I

Still has critical audio Airplay bug - fix it!!!

What’s the point of implementing the Airplay feature, when Sling can’t properly implement it?

Specifically, when attempting to Airplay the audio portion to Airplay compatible devices, the current version of Slingplayer for iPad tries to also send the video feed, which it shouldn't do. Previous versions of the app didn't contain this bug.

Once SlingMedia engineers fix this bug (which is MONTHS overdue), then I will give this app 4 stars again. And if they bring back the “HD mode” for instant HD quality streaming, versus waiting minutes for “Auto mode” to bring up HD quality streaming on my iPads, I will certainly give the app 5 stars again.
