Description

US English version of Speech Sounds on Cue Lite!

People who speak with an Australian or British accent should download the Aus version instead.

Speech therapy treatment software for articulation difficulty caused by apraxia of speech or other speech difficulties. The aim of this app is to increase the intensity of treatment for people with apraxia, combining J. Rosenbek's integral stimulation approach with B. Hill's carrier phrase facilitation drills.

This is the US version of the application, with all audio and video recorded by the US speech pathologist Terri Nichols, MS, CCC-SLP, Clinical consultant to Bungalow Software, Virginia USA who also recorded for the Windows/Mac version.

This free application covers only the 'W' consonant.

This application shows how to produce the "W" sound and words beginning with "W". It encourages speech, even in people with severe speech difficulties. This easy to use iPad application contains 39 videos, sound clips and colour photos designed to help adults and children to produce the 'W' consonant speech sound in isolation, in words and in sentences. Now includes recording, playback, rhyming words and randomisation.

This software is especially helpful to those who need to hear and see a sound made, for example, patients with motor speech difficulty due to speech apraxia (verbal or oral apraxia affecting speech).

Provides multimedia full-motion video cues, for independent speech practice. Cues are for individual phonemes (sounds) as well as full words.

Each exercise targets one word, divided into 20 consonant
positions. For each exercise it provides:

* Color photo
* Auditory and written trigger phrase
* Written word
* Video clip of a speaker
* Records and plays back patient's voice with model sound for comparison.

This app enables intensive independent practice for Motor Speech Disorders, with immediate auditory feedback.

There are also two full versions available (the original Aus and newer US version) which contain 20 consonants and 530 words/ photos/ videos.

I use technology such as the iPad all the time during speech therapy sessions and this has become a favorite for adults who have aphasia and apraxia. Many individuals have more success with producing intelligible responses with this app over others because it provides many different types of helpful cues in an automatic way. Once people using it get into the routine of how it works- it can be wonderful! Many people are helped when they are working on saying words grouped by initial sound and given a picture, text, lead in phrase and can see up-close lip movement. It is also helpful to hear the recording of what was said by the user.

I think that the high price is limiting the number of individuals who could benefit from all that it has to offer. I would also like to see more options in terms of which types of cues are provided.

A good overview of the Speech Sounds on Cue program!

I have used this /w/ sample with a low verbal kiddo but obviously /w/ is not a sound that too many need remediation for, the full version would be tremendously beneficial! This lite version does its job though- it shows you the features of the full version, and yes, the full version is definitely on my wish list. I see the price has dropped and I appreciate it! It should open doors for more people. It looks like a very useful visual and auditory tool for people struggling with speech production.

Wonderful!

My husband suffers from severe apraxia as a result of a stroke. The videos give him the cues he needs to say the words and the recordings give him the feedback to see if he is accurate. He is able to practice speaking without the help of his speech therapist (expensive) or a family member, which makes him feel independent. We love it so much, we're going to get the full version. Thank you! Lori Aitken
