Spell is an app to learn and exercise reading and spelling in the American Sign Language (ASL).
Learning the alphabet can be helpful for learning sign language. Being able to interpret the letters quickly and signing them yourself makes conversation a lot easier.
How it works
The app picks a word and spells it out. If you understand the word, choose "Next Word"; the app will pick another word and spell it slightly faster. If you missed the word, choose "Show Again"; the app will slow down and repeat the word. This way the app adjusts to your skill level as you learn.

Ratings and Reviews
The app in it’s current form is a GREAT finger spelling trainer. I could use it in it’s current form but a few quality of life tweaks would be great:
- Fully support landscape view.
- Option to change time parameters
- Keep track of your learning progress
- Hands-free mode where the word is shown after a timer
- Add a mode where you have to interpret nonsense words
- Add names to the dictionary as that’s what you’ll more likely use it for
That last one in particular. It’s one thing to figure out the context with ordinary words, but randomly generated words would be a TRUE test.
Anyway, great app for finger spelling practice.
It is exactly what it says it is, and the thing I love most about it is that the next speed/next level isn't perceptible or a huge jump between them. Super helpful for beginners.
Works well. Not appropriate for children.
Downloaded this to help my child learn to fingerspell. Some of the finger-spelled words in the program are explicit. Can’t recommend.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
