Description

Squeed is a straightforward, efficient MP3, FLAC, AIFF and M4A metadata (tag) editor with online database support.

Features:
• Outputs clean tags: metadata that doesn't appear in the sidebar is not written to or kept in the file.
• Search on Discogs: search for an album or a track on the leading user-built online discography database and automatically populate metadata with that info, including cover art, all from within the app.
• Batch-process files: select several files at once and edit their tags or rename them in batches.
• Pattern renaming and tag extraction: batch-rename files with any combination of supported metadata or easily extract info from the filename.
• Preview audio inside the box: preview the currently selected audio files with Quick Look.
• Resize cover art: automatically upon adding, or manually on single and multiple files.
• iTunes integration: add files to your library and get autocomplete suggestions from iTunes metadata.

Ratings and Reviews

Great App - Missing Compilation Tag

DarkOS

Squeed is truly a great tool for any audiophile wanting to keep their music collection organized. It offers great support for multiple audio formats (something many of its competitors fail to achieve). The interface is clean and modern. Most tasks can be completed through a minimal number of steps.

The only drawback is that a critical tag is missing: COMPILATION. Without it is impossible to correct when a song or album has been misidentified as part of a compilation. When that occurs (as of version 1.12.9), you don’t have any other option but to use a competing product to fix the problem.

So it is great and very useful for editing most ID3 tags. Adding the missing COMPILATION Tag will surely improve this tool.

Does what I needed.

Interface is a good. Seems to function properly. Does what I wanted it to do, which was to set the various bits of metadata for aif, mp3, etc.

I agree with other posters who wish it had “open with”. I’ve tried that several times now and been somewhat disappointed that it didn’t exist. Still, that’s not difficult to work around and it’s a fine app even without.

Almost perfect

Ever since I’ve been using the Mac platform (2+ years now), I’ve been struggling to find a worthy replacement of mp3tag, which is THE best ID3 tagger on Windows. I believe I have found it in Squeed. There’s just two features that would make this even better for me.

1) It would be great if I could right-click on a folder and open up Squeed from a context menu selection.
2) When I download anime soundtracks or whatever, the filenames are often preceded by a number and a dash, &c. I would like to be able to edit the actual filename from Squeed’s interface.

Other than those two issues, I’m thoroughly enjoying Squeed. Keep up the fantastic work!
