Welcome to Superstar Football Manager: the new game from the creators of Football Superstar, Football Owner and Soccer Academy.

Can you become the best manager in the world?

Start the game as a 40 year old ex-player looking to make your first foray into football management and work your way up to manage one of the worlds biggest teams!

Buy from thousands of players over several regions and leagues. Do you buy established players in the prime of their career, young talent for the future or older players for the short term? You decide. Perhaps you sell the club superstar to rise funds for more players? Again, that's up to you.

Buying and selling players is one thing, keeping them fit and happy is another. Do you use a squad rotation system or stick with your preferred team? Do you sell that unhappy player or keep hold of him in case those injuries pile up? Will he sign a new contract or do you risk losing him for free? It's all part of the job!

Aside from developing the club, you should develop you own character. Use experience points to upgrade your own personal abilities and become the best manager you can be. Perhaps you focus on becoming a great man-manager or specialise in a specific style of football? More importantly, as you improve, do you stay loyal to your current club or move on to pastures new? After all, that new club could have a much bigger transfer budget!

If you intend on staying at the club for the long haul, you should look to upgrade the club facilities and increase the likelihood of young talent breaking through the academy. Perhaps you unearth the next wonder-kid and save the club a small fortune.

All this and much more awaits you... Can you handle the pressure?
Let's go…

Great addition to the series, but...

I really like this game; almost more than the others in the series. I just have an issue with the inexperience multiplier decreasing when I need it more than ever because the upgrade cost is increasing. Maybe I just haven’t gotten far enough in the game to the point where it makes sense. A slower drop in that multiplier would be nice though.

Needs some work, but ultimately really fun.

Ok, so I’ve been playing lazy boy games for awhile now. I love the superstar series of games and so I was super excited to see they were making a manager game. I play Various sports management games all the time so to see them adapt their style of career based sports games to a management “sim” (more on the quotation marks later) was really exciting. The game plays like the other superstar games with a few minor tweaks and one major change. Gone is the in game cash based upgrade system, replaced with an XP system that feels more true to how you’d advance your skill in real life. You buy and sell players and upgrade your facilities with your clubs cash flow, and your reputation allows you to move to bigger and better clubs. So far I’ve played 3 seasons, and have really enjoyed my time. For the minor flaws, I’d like the auto pick team function to allow me to choose how it will pick the team. So far it only picks the best players in each position which is nice, except for when I want to rest my players. A feature for choosing fitness over skill level for the auto pick would be much appreciated. Also, knowing what skills are beneficial to you at the point in time would help as well. Being able to filter teams and players by their reputation would be cool too. When you select the reputation filter, you are shown all clubs or players who fit within your reputation and below. When your a level 50 reputation club, your probably not going to want to see a level 5 player. Being able to set a minimum/maximum reputation to view would be helpful. Next, the tactics screen before each match gives you a breakdown of how you want your team to play the match, with sliders that allow you to tweak each piece (ie Counter vs Possesion, High Press vs Own half, Attacking vs Defensive stance) The only problem is once you’ve selected your tactics, which only allows you to choose from 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 5-3-2, your are locked in for the whole match. Being able to adjust your tactics to the match would help win games. All-in-all, It’s a simple simulation game, that is good at everything, but master of none. It gives you control of a club without overwhelming you with the nuances of more complex management games, while still making you feel like your decisions are effecting the game. Skill advancement, which comes in many different skills, feels true to life while still giving a sort of rpg feel.

TLDR: solid management career game, the has a few flaws to be polished out.
