Finally, after 4 years, the first mobile surf reporting app has been completely rebuilt from the ground up! With Surf Report 2.0, the conditions for thousands of breaks worldwide are at your finger-tips—thanks exclusively to our partners at Surfline.com.
//Your Favorite Breaks
Track the swell, tide, wind and just about everything else you’d want to know about your favorite break(s); or track almost any break you’ve always wanted to hit. From Lower Trestles to J-Bay or the thousands of breaks in between, you’ll know when and where you need to be.
//Forecast and Best Conditions
Determine whether you should go to work tomorrow or if you should plan to call-in sick with the free 2-day forecast. And, if you’re paddling out somewhere new, the Best Condition chart will help you determine exactly when to paddle out.
//Sunset Walks on the Beach
Surfing too much can cause strains in any relationship, so why not make it up to them by taking them on a beautiful sunset walk or peaceful sunrise stroll. With Weather Reports, Tide Charts, and Sunrise/Sunset times, your significant other can take that relaxing walk on the beach—while you squeeze in a quick session.
//HD Cam’s, Full Reports, and Videos
If that info still isn’t enough, Surfline’s HD Cam’s and full mobile reports are just a tap away on surfline.com. Or, if you really need to get away (at work), Surfline’s suite of awesome videos are right there to take you with a simple click.
//This app uses Location Services
This app utilizes Location Services (GPS) when you ask it to find the breaks nearest you. Continued use of GPS can dramatically decrease battery life.
What's New in Version 2.0.2
//Tide Chart Note
For users having a hard time finding the tide charts for a location, the nice wave-form graphic at the bottom of each locations main info page is the tide chart for that location. The white dot on the wave-form graphic is the current tide. High & Low Tide points are marked on the wave-form graphic as well. It's all the same great information as before, just without the boring spreadsheet format.
An update to the Oakley Surf Report 2.0, powered by Surfline, has finally arrived! It’s about time, right? In this release we threw everything out, but the data feeds, and started over. Here are just a few improvements and benefits in this release:
It was great then; it’s amazing now. Designed exclusively for iOS 7, knowing when and where to surf has never been so simple.
//Still Powered by Surfline
When their reports are that good, why use anybody else?
//At a Glance
The most important data about your favorite breaks are all on one screen. You’ll almost know the conditions faster than Surfline’s reporters…Almost.
//Buh-Bye Community Section
The Surf Report’s whole purpose for being is to make it easier to go surfing, at the best breaks, at the best times; the Community Section didn’t help with that.
Great app, But 2
I love this app for my sea kayaking. It helps with knowing what wave height I might have to power through, swell size, and wind. The but is, that as of last week it has not updated. As another user indicated, you must go to (i) for "today's" real report. Hoping it is a bug that will be fixed soon. It might help if the date was indicated on the report.
Great app, but
Really well done. Easier to use and better looking than the native Surfline app. Only thing is that the tide info stops at midnight, and there isn't anyway to look up what high and low tides of the next morning are. Would be really helpful to have that info.
Surf Never Predicted Right
Awesome app and interface. However, it's really far from accurate for me (south San Diego) unless I go and click for additional information (i) and get the surfline report. It's been saying 1-2 feet at my break all week when it's been 4ft-2ft overhead. No complaints about the winter waves :), but Oakley should definitely coordinate the two reports they offer in the app.
