All in one OCR Scanner with....
.. Translate capability.
Let me say that I have not used the camera feature in this app except as a test and the clarity was quite good. I generally take screenshots, then read them and either translate or pull out quotes I need to include in papers etc.. For that it has worked perfectly on my iPhone and iPad for the most part, unless the text is incredibly small or the words are underlined and then there are some negligible errors. As for translating capability, that is on Google and the user. No language is going to translate perfect, word for word into your language of choice. Some words in a culture mean just that given word and if you test out one word in Google Translate, you will see in some languages words can mean 25 different things and Google is telling you it's interpretation. It will not rearrange sentences correctly; the user has to understand structure and apply it.
I use this app everyday and it is more than worth the price, especially if you need speedy, somewhat accurate translations in order to respond in a language you both know. If anyone tries to use a translator to communicate in a language they don't know, there will be a lot of laughter at the receiving end, lol. I use the OCR ability more, however, for editing text. Trust me, a couple of errors and copy paste ability is better than me having to copy the pages, word by word.
After trying a half dozen cheap knock off apps that didn't work at all, I found this one through a google search (the App Store search seems to be gamed by terrible developers at the moment).
This app does everything I am looking for: OCR, translation, history, copy, share, etc. all this with ridiculous "credit" systems to rip you off. You buy the app, you get to use it as much as you like.
In the tests I ran on French text, the translations I got back were actually better in some ways than the English translations done by actual humans. Not perfect, but the spirit of the original text was more clear. Very impressive!
Best way to grab your text
I think you may have come across some situations that needs you to typing down the text in a picture or on a book, you'll usually suffer.
But now with this app, you don't need to type them down but you can take a photo of them or just use the picture to be scanned by the app, you'll get exactly what you want.
And you can translate the text to a language you prefer immediately!
