IGN Wireless -- 8 / 10
“The Horrible Vikings is a genuinely clever game that will leave a smile on your face.”
Touch Arcade - - 4 / 5
“If you're a fan of catapult games, there isn't much to not like about The Horrible Vikings. Yes, the core gameplay element has been done to death on the App Store, but few of them can even begin to rival the amount of refinement seen inThe Horrible Vikings.”
TouchGen – 4 / 5
“The Horrible Vikings is a quality title for anyone into flinging stuff from left to right. With a hefty story mode you can get loads of hours out of this one, and funny hours as well as these are both Horrible and Hilarious Vikings.”
Slide to Play – 3 / 4
“If you like the catapult-launching/cannon-shooting genre and are looking for a game with plenty of substance and style, then you'll get a kick out of The Horrible Vikings.”
“The Horrible Vikings in an enjoyable game that takes the catapulting mechanisms from popular flash mini-games and actually turns it into a game. If you’re looking for a good pick up and play game look no further.”
What's New in Version 1.11
Increased game stability for better plundering
Klunky controls and boring execution
Pretty much what my title says. The game just is not addictive. It's simply aggrivating with the current control scheme. I appreciate what the authors tried to pull off here -- like the Angry Birds app, but inferior in nearly every way. It's not a terrible game, but I would not have purchased it if i had played a free demo, which is probably why there isn't one. I'll be more wary of sight-unseen purchases in the future.
Good idea, but needs better execution.
Not fond of purchasing apps without playing a free version first, but after reading reviews I purchased this one anyway. Mistake. I was expecting something similar to my favorite Angry Birds with a different twist but I could not get into it. The controls were not good making the game just feel not as polished like others. Wait for the demo if you can.
How can you go wrong with terrific music, pixel art and being able to butt-bounce the enemy into oblivion with dirty smelly vikings?!?
