The app uses your location to send you personalized hotel, restaurant, attraction and vacation rental recommendations as well as remember the places you visited via our Travel Timeline feature. These locations are collected even if the app is in the background. Location settings can be configured in the Settings app.

Bug fixes and stability improvements
Omg, this app makes me so mad
I get about a kabillion emails from trip advisor begging me to write a review, so I try. I go to the TripAdvisor app, try to add a photo with my review but only about half of my photos are available to choose from and NEVER the photo I’m looking for.
So I go to the “help section” of trip advisor and it says “you can’t upload pics from the app you have to do that from the full site”. Which is bs because I COULD upload a pic from the app just NOT the pic I wanted. So, I went to the full site via safari, which is a bigger headache. The main page is insistently trying to get me to search for a hotel or restaurant near Palm Springs, CA (which is about 3000 miles away from me and not a place I’m even thinking about visiting.)
Then, when I TRY to write a review via safari it tries to push me to the app.
I’m literally 43 minutes into trying to write a review of a great restaurant I visited last night and I’m still not done.
Why do you make your site so difficult to use? Do you want to be obsolete? Is that your goal? You’re well on your way.
Where To? Mediocre for Airport Hotel!
Been using this app/site for a few years and its great...EXCEPT: When entering a destination while searching for an airport hotel, the database/search will almost always search the CITY only. Just try it:Enter "LAX" for example...only returns "Los Angeles"...a HUGE area to search. Enter "Los Angeles Airport" and same problem...only city will come up. Another example, you want an airport hotel near (SFO - San Francisco) for example...great...except the airport is in a different city (Millbrae!) as are most international airports....so if you don't know the actual city the airport is located in, it is a PITA to find an airport hotel. So I need to go to Google (for example) to find the city the airport is located in.... so I might as well just stay with Google to find an airport hotel! Knit picky, maybe, but get a better search engine/database. This has been going on a long time... just ridiculous for a travel app.
Snow Lodge Yellowstone Park
Yellowstone Park is glorious! A must see! However, an overnight winter visit to the park requires a stay at one of the Xanterra hotels, and they leave a lot to be desired. We stayed at the Snow Lodge. The reservation desk didn’t tell us that only special vehicles are allowed in the park in winter—so we couldn’t get to the hotel! Stranded at the airport, the hotel didn’t know how who the vendors are to get us into the park! (We had to find a local hotel for the night.) At the Snow Lodge restaurant, most of the meals have been pre-prepared and frozen. They are microwaved and served. Some dishes were still cold. (The bison burger is grilled just before serving, and it was excellent.) The seasonal staff are very friendly and the try to be helpful. The hotel has no TV service, and internet service is pay-by-the-hour. Double check your reservations at the hotel, with transportation vendors and tour operators to make sure you have no surprises .
