Naru Restaurant and Lounge
Glimpsing from the ride back to our lovely accommodations here in Barbados, I espied what turned out to be a gem: Naru Restaurant and Lounge. The street side greeted us with lovely plants on an old gracious portico (we were walking, but they have a parking lot), and energetic but suave staff greeted us with open Barbadian charm. We were seated at a comfortable table for 2 overlooking the beach and the waning light on the water.
Service was meticulous and attentive, and our waiter, Andre has a great sense of humor as well as knowledge of the menu and preparation of the Asian-fusion cuisine. The sushi menu is sprightly and inventive- ingredients are fresh and creatively combined. The full menu of appetizers and mains contain gems prepared to a tee. A full bar boasts a sake selection as well as beers, wines and mixed drinks. Dessert is worthwhile- exquisitely fashioned and in perfect proportion. Each plate is a lovely vision as well as a satisfying culinary adventure.
We looked for a different place to enjoy the next night, and after perusing 3 or 4 different menus at other places, we decided that we had to return to Naru to try other dishes. We were again met with inventive deliciousness!
It seems a testimonial that folks from the next table, with whom we struck up a conversation are both native to Barbados and consider Naru to be a favorite 'nice' meal.
Two happy foodies recommend Naru!
We keep coming back, and are here right now!
We arrived yesterday, and are so happy to be back. We have been taken so well care of by all staff since the minute we arrived! It took only a few minutes to check in, and it was flawless. We are staying on points, and when we returned from dinner, we had a plate of delicious fruit waiting for us in our room! What a special little extra treat! The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the food at all of the restaurants is delectable! We just did the Thursday buffet at Coco Joe's this evening, and it was well worth the $45 dollars! Aqua Terra has the best seafood linguine. The breakfast buffet is the best we have ever had. The view of Charlotte Amalie from our balcony is breath-taking! Love this resort! We will not want to leave next week!!!
Captain Mike's Dolphin Tours
This tour scored very low in comparison to the previous Dolphin tours that we attended in Myrtle Beach. The boat was raggedy. The parking was terrible with little to no space for tour customers. If we hadn't made a space we'd would've lost the whole $197 that we paid. It was a wobbly ride and to top it off the lady at the office was extremely rude! She had an uninviting face when we walked up. My 80 year old father took ill less than 4 hours before the tour so my mom had to tend to him. We purchased 13 tickets and this was an act of nature. She didn't even appear apologetic when she told us that we could not get the 2 tickets refunded because they turned others away for that tour and that we needed to cancel 4 hours prior. Well, had the illness occurred 4 hours prior we would have. By the way, if the lady that works in the office reads this, I'd like to suggest that you smile in the future as you are already very unattractive to the eyes!
