What's New in Version 5.3

* The mobile app now matches the behavior of the website. When viewing a hosted stream, you can now join the host’s chat while viewing the hosted stream.

* Tapping a hosted stream in the live tab will take you to the channel and chat of the host. Above chat there is now a bar with a “Join” button which will take you directly to the hosted stream.

What Happened?

While I do enjoy the night mode (I've never switched back ever since), the several updates that has happened since STILL have not fixed the abrupt pauses that occur randomly (for both iPad & iPhone). And now there's an even worse bug where the same short ad (15 seconds, more or less) will get caught in an odd loop when watching playback of a previously recorded stream.

What'll happen is, it will reach the point where an ad will play, the short ad plays out, then it resumes a few seconds before the ad originally started and replay the same ad. It gets stuck in this loop unless you fast forward a couple seconds to after the point that activates the ad.

Previous to all these updates, the streams ran fine & I had no issues. Now it's the annoying, abrupt and random pauses, and endless ad loops. If I may add, a multi-twitch option should be native with the app, especially with the iPad version.

Horrible update

I don't usually write reviews but this one warranted it.

5.0 took away a lot of the convenience of the app and threw in a few extra bugs, like random freezing.

Things that went away were easy to find past streams instead of having to search by game as well as this new feature that switches channels whenever your finger happens to make contact with the screen.

I hope they fix these issues in subsequent follow ups. The way the app is now isn't worth using.

Update: I changed my rating from 2 stars to 1. There is simply no good things to say about the current version of Twitch's app.

They took what was a great app, rolled it in dog crap, lit it on fire, ran over it with a truck, hit it with a sledgehammer, threw it off a high rise, then put lipstick on it and sent it to Apple.

It's worse than bad: It's garbage. A frustrating user experience. Would give 0 stars if possible.

5.3 update: the notes make mention of hosted channels, yet fail to solve the root problem of being able to watch previous videos of channels when they are hosting. It's been months now. How has Twitch not solved this by now?!?!?!

New updates broke the app

Basically every few minutes the stream pauses/freezes and you have to switch to a new channel and back to fix the issue which is annoying. Too many bugs with the new interface, just made everything more of a hassle to navigate. Lack of optimization, with the old app everything worked perfectly. New app is utter trash. Not even worth watching streams on my phone anymore. They took away the mobile convenience.
