Audio Sync Issues
I really like this app and think it's a far cry from Apple's own horrendous video app.
That being said, I have constant issues with audio syncing and the interface is very difficult to manage, especially, when doing something active like walking a treadmill. Please, give us a way to enter the offset digitally rather than dragging a touchy slider and, if at all possible, figure out a way to retain that offset from one video to the next in the same folder since, for some reason, the offset seems to reset to 0 even though the slider shows it retains. Best solution, at that point, is to quit the app so as to start fresh. This has been going on for several versions.
I'm also a bit disappointed that VLC doesn't have a place to provide this kind of feedback so I hope they read their reviews.
I tried using the VLC iOS app back on my iPod Touch 2nd Generation and at that time (2010-ish), I hated it because it was just so unwieldy and subtitles didn’t work well. Thus I switched to AV Player and never looked back... until now - I installed out of curiosity and man have things changed - the interface is punchy, love that my library (with its naming convention already optimized for Plex) can be tossed in and organized automatically, subs work wonderfully - I love it thus far. I’m docking a point for the fact that there is not optimization for iPhone X, but once that’s done I will absolutely give this 5/5 stars.
Updated review: app updated for iPhone X - 5 stars
Would love a fix to the stream interruption bug
I LOVE the app and love the updates for iPhone X.
One thing that has always bugged me is what happens when you are streaming from an icecast server (mp3) and the connection is interrupted or the connection hands off from LTE or WiFi.
Sometimes, if the interruption is resolved quickly enough, it will resume or it can be resumed by clicking play or clicking on the stream again. Other times, the app must be terminated completely to allow for any stream to be played.
I’d say it’s 50/50 on if I need to terminate the app or if I get into the app quickly enough or if it was a Bluetooth handoff, I’ll be able to resume. It would God like if the devs fixed resuming on network handoff or Bluetooth handoff.
