A Once Clean, Minimalist App Turns Rotten Due to Dev Greed

I had only gotten to use Vox for a few months before I noticed today a push for users of the free Mac App to go premium. If it was just a once and a while push to pay for the full app to get more features, I could live with it. I may have even considered buying it. But at $16 a month subscription (you don’t even own the premium version unless you pay their constant subscription fee), it’s just too much. Not only that, but they removed the EQ from the free version and hid it behind their paywall. Guess I’ll be looking for another Mac app for my FLAC music.

Too bad the developers got greedy. It won’t pay off for them.

Ruined with new update requiring an account and subscription

VOX WAS my absolite go-to favorite audio player, but the newest update absolutely RUINED the experience. To access advanced settings and play Hi-Res audio files, you now need an account and subscription. No thanks. While I understand a need for an income stream, charge $9.95 for it and be done. I’ll still buy it. There are those of us who do not wish to create an account and join your community-I couldn’t care less, I just want to play my music. The new subscription model infecting the software industry has now infected VOX, and I’ll vote with my wallet and delete key.

Pushing your paid services too hard

Once the player used to be a good one. Bought the radious because it’s convenient way to listen to multiple radio stations online. But the recent update made the equalizer a premium feature. This is terrible experience. I do not want to pay 15bucks per month to be able to use equalizer.

Same with crossfade and other features you would expect from a modern audio player. This player is definitely going out of my mac as soon as i spent 20 minutes to find the alternative.
