"Approximate time in traffic is 10 minutes"

I travel 1-1.5 hours, sometimes longer, to and from work everyday. I despise traffic with a passion and avoid it whenever possible. That's where this Waze comes in handy. It's a socially run GPS application that allows users to warn other drivers of all kinds of problems that plague travel such as hazards, weather, speed traps, accidents, traffic, etc. Prior to embarking on my journey, I pull up Waze and check the traffic along a number of routes to see which will have the least amount of traffic. Because this is socially run, I find this app will report traffic much quicker than most as you can manually enter in that you're in traffic, or the app will ask based on your average speed slowing down significantly. This has been a life saver. I don't know how often I've gotten off the highway to take side streets because of reports of traffic ahead or an accident, all possible with the "avoid freeways" option, to skip out on some horrendous traffic that I'll hear my coworkers got stuck in. Additionally, with the recent update, if traffic is unavoidable, the app will estimate how long you'll be stuck in traffic which I've been finding so far to be fairly accurate. This app also has saved me from a number of speeding tickets due to warnings of police and speed traps being reported. I could go on all day about this app, but suffice it to say, I never leave home without it!

OK app; slow to "learn"

Waze is a good app if you do a lot of highway driving or have a long commute. It's more unreliable for city driving and short commutes. When I pick the fastest route option, Waze will often pick a winding, convoluted route through narrow side streets that may only save me 2-3 minutes over my usual route that utilizes major thoroughfares. The problem is that narrow side streets tend to have more traffic lights (often poorly timed or with long reds), more stop signs, and less or no room to get around stopped vehicles (buses, delivery trucks, construction). So, yeah, the side streets might save me 2-3 minutes, or it might add 10 minutes. And city traffic often changes quickly and frequently. That a road was clear or congested 30 minutes ago is meaningless, especially during rush hour. So, please Waze, stop trying to save me 2 minutes! I just need to know if my usual route has a major backup right now and, if so, which of the alternate primary routes through the city is the quickest. Also, when I launch Waze and pick a destination, it always -100% of the time- assumes that I'm heading in the opposite direction of my destination and plans a route to get me going in the right direction. So, I always have to ignore the initial route until it figures out which way I'm heading. Give me the benefit of the doubt, Waze: assume I have some idea of where I am and which general direction I want to go.

So much more than a navigation app!

You just have to give it a try for your self. It's more accurate then I expected! It's simple to learn and has many useful features!
First it's a great navigator. I like the looks of it. The icons are too cute! You can customize to ur preference. Chose several voices and different languages to hear while being given driving directions. I love that u can select "avoid all highways/freeways"... My last app lacked this! I would end up lost when the highway was shut down at many on ramps in my area for construction. My old app would continue to navigate back to the highway no matter what! Lol.
While testing it, every police car I passed on the highway, this app warned me ahead of time!!! That was awesome!!! Also it showed me the speed people were going ahead of me on different routs and took me the fastest way! Saved me time!! And avoided the aggravation of going 12 miles per hour in a 65!! I could see there was construction b4 I even came to it and see other members on the road near me. I could chose to message them and ask what's ahead! I was also able to confirm construction, police and break downs or inform others it was no longer there. So much to love! Try it, I did and this app will replace my google navigation app. .... Highly Recommend!!
