Bugs and stability fixes
Absolute Game Changer
This isn't just miles better than any other navigation app, it's totally beyond anything else out there. Most navigation apps out there today are pretty much the same - they all have simple, user friendly interfaces, fairly up-to-date databases. Waze is similar in all those respects as well, but they take it to the next level by making it heavily community driven. Waze learns from you, and every other user, and creates a system that get's you where you're going faster and more efficiently than any other navigation app available. So what, most modern navi apps integrate traffic and accident information, what makes Waze so special? You might be asking yourself. The fact is, all other apps rely on that information from 1 or maybe 2 sources/databases, and it's virtually impossible for them to be instantly up-to-date. Waze gathers information from all of it's users, so the moment something happens on the road, you know about it. I was driving across the state a few days ago, and not only was I alerted to every traffic disruption, I was even alerted to various inconveniences like cars pulled over on the side of the road and highway patrolman hiding in various speed traps. I've begun using it during all drives, regardless if I actually need directions because the other information is so valuable. The simplest way to put it: you're missing out if you're not using this every time you're traveling in a car. Period.
Great but room to improve
Waze veteran of a few years now and like everyone else, love the real time traffic updates. A few fixes could make this app flawless in my opinion. As mentioned in a few other reviews, giving a quicker heads up about upcoming turns is crucial when you have to make a few consecutive immediate turns. The thing I would really like to see improvement on involves when you reach the destination. No question the app will take you where you want to go... The only problem is while it may get you to a place, it doesn't always get you to the entrance, I.E. it may take you to the back of the building but the entrance is a block or two parallel to where you are, which in some cities means you have fight one way streets and what not before you can make your turns. The problem with this is that once it thinks you have arrived, the app seems to carry the mindset of "welp, I've done my job," and the route sometimes terminates without giving you the option to continue. You have to basically reprogram the route, which is nerve racking when you still have to navigate in real time. If that gets fixed then I think this would be a true 5 star app.
Very Good Nav App
I have used Waze for about 2 years. In large metro areas the traffic updates are obviously more timely because of the increased number of users. The city I'm living in now is quite large, but there aren't a lot of Waze users yet. Waze still tries to route me over very congested areas simply because no Wazers have been down the route to give traffic data yet. Each month we have more users though, so in time this will get better. I have found a few map/route issues, but when I reported it they were corrected same day. The issues I'm having currently with this version: 1)the miles/points calculator is lagging behind-not updating for a week or two, 2) when I identify a hazard the point value pops up on screen but the identified hazard does not show on the map, so I'm unclear whether other Wazers get the benefit of it. This is likely just a glitch in the latest update. Suggestions: it would be Really nice if school zones were identified on the map by color/sound. I believe it could help raise awareness of the school zones, OR allow you to route yourself around the area. It would also be nice to have Waze automatically route you around the zones.
