Must I really have an inbox?!
I really love this app and I'd be reiterating what others said. So I will focus on the two things that annoy me to no end.
When reporting, allow a voice recognition report of some type. For example, when there is road construction, as a driver I'd like to alert to others which lane is closed so that they don't--in heavy traffic--choose the wrong lane to sit in.
Second is its Nag Feature: the blasted inbox tells me "your road report was thanked." Try to use the check box to select it for deletion and no-dice-- just keeps opening up. Why isn't there a swipe-to-delete feature, if this needs to be reported to me at all. What do I care? It provides me no information. In fact, it's a disincentive to report because my inbox will be cluttered with the big who-cares Thanks for locating the dead cat, the snarled traffic, and the cop.
I seriously wouldn't mind it so much if the app was appropriately responsive and allowed a swipe-delete. The process is just weird and I don't see the value.
Today I actually considered and searched for another app because I've just about given up on this feature. It's maddening!
One last thing-- on the iPhone, the latest version will sometimes--upon opening-- twirl the car around on the screen and then the program will crash. Not bad, but annoying to have to restart it.
Fun and informative
A fun and informative app. Helps me to understand traffic patterns in front of me and I enjoy reporting on mishaps for others. On long drives, passes the time in a helpful way.
There are some elements that I do not understand. The Facebook scoring comparison no longer works. This is true for both my iphone and ipad.
On the score comparison, I have no idea what metric is being used for the -+ amts in the right field.
Under Hazards --- I would like a few more choices. Weather --- please add ice. Blocking road - please add fire equipment.
The report for camera's (at street lights) seems not to do anything. If not being used, it should be removed.
For gas station price updates, I get far to many Oh-ohs -- without taking the update. Not sure why.
On map editing - a better orientation is needed. The editors are covered in the tutorial, but the relationship between the app and the website and other editor/Wazers--- is less clear to me.
Having said all these things, I really do recommend the app to anyone -- particularly those doing a lots distance of driving.
Quite Good, Almost Perfect
Waze has a very good routing algorithm which results in very good driving directions. The only challenges I run into is it isn't as good as paid navigation in that it has a difficult time finding local businesses. Also it cant use your iPhone contact list, instead you have to enter a contact in Waze. This is trivial compared with the stock iPhone map which is good 70% of the time and the rest you may end up 10 or more miles from your destination. Google maps want you to pick the route and cant seem to auto calculate the best one. So, for routing I give 4 stars ( one off for not being able to find the businesses and contacts)
Now that Waze was acquired by another org it has gone quickly downhill. it is now filled with a barrage of garbage data that is inaccurate or plain old wrong. instead of working to improve a good app they have tried to merge their existing nav data unsuccessfully creating a wealth of GIGO . lowered to. 3 stars as the better features haven't been improve upon and in most cases are substantially diminished . primarily responsiveness has taken a steep plunge.
