What's New in Version 6.1.1
- Defect Fixes
e-Mail Sometimes works. Voice features a total failure
I have had Xfinity Voice now for about 10 Months. And after over 40 calls to support with no resolution I'm writing this review. The email functions work but are are so slow it is easier to just use normal email client.
Now onto the main reason for using this app the Voice features. There is a system server level issue that whenever I call support they say needs to be eacalated to Tier 2 and they will transfer me. But I guess in Filipino that means transfer you back to the Tier 1 queue without a resolution or they say someone will call within 24-48 hours but they never call back. After months and months of not being able to use features that worked fine before one of there upgrades it is sad that they can't find someone in the US to fix the problems with the app that says made with "Love in Philadelphia". The only love I see is the love of causing customers to be stuck in endless loops wasting time in foreign countries with poorly trained so called Support Engineers who couldnt pour urine out of a boot with a pictagram and map on the heel. And a Love for never calling a customer back. If you havent signed up for this service dont unless you enjoy midevil torture. If you have it like me may god have mercy on your soul, and I pray you dont have a stroke which they have gotten me close to a few times now with there sheer stupidity.
What has Happened?
I have been using this app for the last 4 years with 2 different I pads. HAD been quite reliable, rarely needed "rebooting". NOW- Recently, I have found it needed "Rebooting" at least weekly, and as of this a.m., just "hangs", saying it "cannot connect to server". This despite Turning Off I pad and back on Several Times, Logging out and back in at least 3 times, and finally "Removing" the Application and Reloading FOLLOWING a Reboot of the I pad. Now Have Lost ALL of the e-mail that had been accessible via my I pad, and It Still is unable to "connect to server to send and receive". G mail still works, all the rest of my apps still work. Please Fix this ASAP.
Otherwise, Comcast will continue to have an ever-growing List of Unsatisfied Customers, and the Nickname that MANY already use for Comcast - which is "Comcxap", will come back into the common Lexicon. Perhaps to become the Next "Word of the Year" to describe Comcast and it's Unreliable Equipment and (frequently) Near Non Existent Customer Support. Glad I DO NOT USE Comcast for my Home Security! Thanks.
Shortcomings are Many
For the first time, I now have my landline, Internet, TV and home security system all provided by Comcast. I became dismayed to discover the various separate apps I had to download to address each of those 4 services. Then, I found the Connect app and thought this would be the solution.
Some of its features WOULD be useful if they worked as described. For example, call-screening my landline then being able to answer the call from my iPad. Seems I have to keep the Connect app OPEN all the time for that to occur, and not even that is successful all of the time- even when I'm on WiFi in my own home with a strong signal.
The mail program is not very useful as it monitors only my Comcast email and I have at least 5 others that need to be checked regularly throughout the day. The mail program also doesn't seem to recognize when my Comcast email has been downloaded to/read by another device, causing me to take time to "clean up" that old, read messages constantly.
And, since I must keep the app open continuously, why not give me some pleasant to look at? My choices are to be taken from login to email, text or voice .... All of which have dominant, pretty ugly screens.
This app would be more useful if it could run in the background and be able to communicate between each of Comcast's functions more reliably.
