Yahoo News Digest provides a definitive summary of all the important, need-to-know news. Digests are delivered twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. All the top stories are summarized and presented with the key information that you need to stay on top of what’s happening.
Each story is created from multiple sources to present the essential bits and pieces of information, known as “Atoms”. Atoms are key quotes, images, videos, stock tickers, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts among others. These atomic units provide a unique context to the news. Our stories are both algorithmically and hand curated to ensure high quality, and come with a textual summary.
In addition, we have extended this paradigm for the Apple Watch to deliver top-of-the-hour news bulletins. These bulletins are designed with the Yahoo News Digest's minimalist and modernists attitude. A bulletin begins with a beautiful, geometric poster which signifies the hour using Roman numeral accents, color and diagonal accents. The view is simple with just a graphic and concise headline. The bulletin itself is composed three simple but important screens. We offer the user a two sentence microsummary, a visual piece of information we call an "atom" eg map/stock ticker/stat, and then the ability for the user to speed read further information.
Yahoo News Digest makes your reading experience comprehensive, effortless, and complete, and is customized for both iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. If you get your News Digest on an iPad, you’ll also enjoy a weekly Katie Couric video show, the ability to customize when you receive your news and, in the US edition, extra news categories called Sections which include atomized stories on a whole range of topics.
We are committed to building the best mobile experience and are interested in your feedback.

What's New in Version 1.7.4
- Temporarily removing the Apple Watch experience while we work on some under-the-hood improvements
- bug fixes and performance improvement
Used to be a great app! But lately...
When I first found this app, maybe a couple of years back, it was fantastic! I like news aggregators that provides daily summaries, as opposed to minute by minute push alerts. I'm super busy, so I don't mean more push alerts for national/international news. But lately, the app has been crashing...like a lot! Enough to post only my second review ever. Please fix these issues, and make the app more reliable.
Secondly, I agree with others, the news seems slanted in favor of liberal views. As of late, I consider myself slightly left, and definitely left on social acceptance issues, but the news commentary is bordering on an opinionated slant. For the sake of widening the core user base, maybe consider softening the tone (even though I agree with it). People are ever-so offended and skeptical anymore, but I think this will help increase user acceptance, and keep them from going to "fake news" apps and services so they can read something more palatable for their tastes or political viewpoints.
These are only suggestions.
On the positive side, the app is beautiful, useful when working, and I love the format. Great work, and thanks for the wonderful app. 3 stars until the reliability issues are fixed. 4 stars until commentary is less slanted. 5 stars when both of these suggestions are addressed. (At least you know where my thoughts are for now).
Great Design, Terrible Editing Quality
I have used the Yahoo News Digest for several years, and continue to enjoy it - mostly because of its great design. Next to Flipboard, it's the best looking news app out there. It's big flaw is the lack of quality control in the content editing. Almost every article has some combination of misleading headlines, photos without captions to explain what you are seeing, incomplete sentences that get cut off in mid-thought, and un-attributed quotes that make no sense without knowing who said it. It's extremely frustrating. The app looks so good, but can never seem to deliver on its promise of being a digest of clear news articles. I am constantly scratching my head in confusion wondering what things mean. There is no way any human editor could be reviewing these articles - half the time they simply don't make sense!
Great... Addictive waiting for next issue, but
An update: while my thoughts are expressed well below(when it is not saying "oops") more often it is unavailable. I wonder if this is not Yahoo trying to rid itself of loyal users than mere update or periodic mishaps.... The following is how I feel when it works: The app has become one of my daily routines. I check when the next issue will be released & at days end look to see how many days I have read both am & pm news. The news itself seems balanced in ,local, US & foreign. Also politically pretty even balanced. I just started reading this on my iPad & the problem is neither device knows what I have read on the other. If that would be fixed... Great! Why the screen orientation becomes locked is puzzling. It appears independent of the switch or setting on my iPad
