Great classes when no wifi is available!
I love this app! It's so nice to have the option to choose between 15, 30, or 60 minutes from any category (strength, balance, flexibility, relaxation, or combination of them) from any experience level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). It's a huge plus that you can download any of the 30 prerecorded classes with wifi, then be able to still use this app when you don't have wifi available. I like to take my ipad to the beach, park, or wherever I travel that doesn't have wifi, and be able to practice yoga there. I recommend this app to everyone who practices yoga on a regular basis or to people who are just starting out. My only grip with this app is that the classes are too slow between transitions! 5 seconds in mountain pose or plank pose is too long. It's good for learning, but not for those who would like a good vinyasa flow. You really won't work up a sweat. Also, would be great if there was another music option, or option to turn the music off. Would be nice if yoga studio added classes every once in awhile for more variety for those of us who use the app a lot. I also love the feature to be able to make your own class, except it's annoying to play it and follow along because the wording doesn't flow smoothly. Would be even greater to have the option to choose between going through the class with English pose names or the actual Sanskrit asana names, it would aid in learning them! Otherwise, solid app!
I absolutely LOVE this app!
I have a dozen yoga videos, and attended classes for many years, but this app has it all. I love that I can tailor my own classes to suit my needs, and it will intuit the linking poses for me. I also love that the pre-made classes are divided by level (beginner, intermediate, advanced), and focus (flexibility, balance, strength, relaxation, or a combination of all), and then further divided into time frames (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, etc). The instructor's voice is wonderful, unlike many of the videos I have where I usually turn down the volume. In addition, you can look at each pose and get step-by-step instructions for how to get into that pose. This app takes all of the guesswork out of yoga practice at home, and would be fantastic for those who are just curious about yoga and don't know where to begin to those who have been practicing for years. It is an invaluable app, and I highly recommend it!
Update: They have added 35 new classes, including 10 minute quick fixes, which are perfect and aptly named, yoga for runners, yoga for back pain, and guided meditations. Also, you can turn off the instructor's voice and just have poses called out to you or have it ting for the next pose if you want to watch TV or listen to music while you practice. This is the best app on my phone. It's perfect, and they just keep making it better.
Wonderful classes, worth the $!
The versatility of this app is fantastic! There is a class for every situation - kids being crazy and you only have ten minutes to work out? Husband took them to the park and you have an hour? Back is killing you from doing yard work all day? There's multiple classes for every scenario! You can search by duration, focus, intensity, and the schedule allows you to monitor those practices you've completed and schedule those you want to try in the coming days. I'm working my way through the preset classes now so I can't comment on the customized workout feature, but I have no doubt that it is as well-done as the other features of the app. The classes themselves are enjoyable - not too much repetition (which is a bonus for me as I get bored doing sequences more than two or three times), the voice isn't annoying, and the video is from the side making it easy to see each pose. I scroll down through the poses for each new practice I do so that I can watch the tutorial for any new poses, which allows for a more seamless practice. I consider myself an advanced beginner in decent shape, and the 30 minute Intermediate Combo (considered high intensity) was a good workout, though not as vigorous as I was expecting. I was 'glistening' and ready for a drink at the end, but not at all winded.
