Since the ten-track budget-line collection Super Hits offers all the basics from the Outfield's handful of hitmaking years — "Your Love," "All the Love in the World," "Everytime You Cry," "Since You've Been Gone," "Voices of Babylon" — it may be preferable for casual fans who find the 16-track anthology Big Innings a little too large. The songs on Super Hits may not be sequenced in chronological order, but all the hits are here without as much filler, which makes it a better choice for most listeners.

Ironically, given their obsession with America's favorite pastime, the Outfield got their start in London's East End. Playing under the name the Baseball Boys, the trio of bassist/singer Tony Lewis, guitarist/keyboardist John Spinks, and drummer Alan Jackman played around London and recorded some early demos, attracting the attention of Columbia/CBS Records.
