About Barricada

Spanish heavy metal band Barricada were formed in the early '80s by singer/bassist Enrique "El Drogas" Villareal, joined by guitarist Javier Hernández, drummer Mikel Astrain, and singer/guitarist Sergio Oses. Guitarist Alfredo Piedrafita soon replaced Oses, and in 1983 the band's debut album, Noche de Rock & Roll, was released by the Soñua label. Drummer Astrain passed away in 1984, and Fernando Coronado took his place. Barricada's second album, Barrio Conflictivo, was issued by RCA in 1985, and was followed by 1986's No Hay Tregua. After signing with PolyGram, Barricada released 1987's No Se Que Hacer Contigo and 1988's Rojo. An eponymous live double album arrived in 1990. Later featuring drummer Ibon Sagarra, the ever popular Barricada continued performing and recording into the 2000s. ~ Drago Bonacich
