About Laurel & Hardy

Comedy film legends Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy rose to fame in the silent feature era eventually switching to talkies and appearing in such film revues as THE HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929. The duo also made some musical features including 1930's THE ROGUE SONG, a lost film based upon Franz Lehar’s operetta GYPSY LOVE; 1933's THE DEVIL'S BROTHER, starring opera singer Dennis King; 1934’s BABES IN TOYLAND, based on the Broadway musical; and 1936's THE BOHEMIAN GIRL, based on William Balfe’s operetta. Many more of their films had musical moments, including the songs "Lazy Moon" in PARDON US (1931), "Honolulu Baby" in SONS OF THE DESERT (1933), "Shine on Harvest Moon" in THE FLYING DEUCES (1939), and Laurel's concertina playing on "Mairzy Doats" in THE BIG NOISE (1944).
