About Café Quijano

Spanish alternative act Café Quijano got involved in the local rock scene in 1996 when brothers Manuel, Oscar, and Raúl Quijano, inspired by their father, a professional singer, decided to record a demo and organize a live performance at León's Emperador Theatre. Soon after, the band was signing up to Warner, issuing a self-titled album in 1998, followed by a tour around Spain. Café Quijano consolidation came with the release of La Extraordinaria Paradoja del Sonido Quijano, an experimental record where the band combines rock with well-known Latin rhythms such as rhumba, guaracha, son, and mambo. That album became the group's first platinum record. Taberna del Buda appeared in spring 2001. ~ Drago Bonacich
