About Daliah Lavi
Born in October 1942 near present-day Haifa, Israel, to a Russian father and a German mother, Daliah Lavi began an international career as a movie actress in 1960 and appeared in dozens of films, including erotically charged comedies. Later signing to the German-based Polydor Records, she became a star of the schlager song, with hits like "Oh, Wann Kommst Du?" and "Willst du mit Mir Geh'n?" along with German-language versions of other popular tracks. Lavi continued recording in the 1980s and '90s but never regained her earlier fame, though she did experience a bit of a resurgence in the 2000s with the arrival of various greatest-hits albums. Jürgen Paape even sampled her for his song "So Weit Wie Noch Nie" on the Kompakt compilation Total 3. ~ Marisa Brown
