Jason Mitchell

About Jason Mitchell

Jason Mitchell grew up in White Rock, British Columbia, under the loving wings of a mother who didn't leave the hippie life behind with the end of the '60s. Trips in a van, uninhibited poetry, Bob Dylan music, and the freedom to experiment with different forms of art were all a part of that lifestyle. Mitchell taught himself to play the guitar and his love for writing poems grew into writing songs, and singing simply came naturally. In between he learned to be a gourmet cook and a massage therapist. Mitchell started his musical career like many others -- performing in coffeehouses and clubs where he could practice he skills and build the foundation of a fan base at the same time. He also traveled around, doing opening spots for other artists. Luck came calling when an agent from Warner Music Canada, Steve Blair, happened to catch one of those shows. Soon Mitchell had a record deal and was working on an album, The World Is Flat. The debut hit the market in May of 2000, and carries such original tunes as "Bent," "Lost Woman," "No Small Task," "Pleasures You Bring," "Ghost on the Highway," and "Frozen Night." ~ Charlotte Dillon
