About Dylan Scott

Armed with punchy Top 40 and hip-hop influences, country-pop singer Dylan Scott takes up a niche spot in the genre, hovering around a bro-country sound that prioritizes poignancy over partying. Born Dylan Scott Robinson in 1990, Scott was still in his teens when he lit out for Nashville to make his name, but his small-town upbringing in Bastrop, Louisiana shines through in his music. It might be clearest on his biggest tune to date, “My Girl,” as he rattles off a laundry list of the things that make his lover special over glowing synths and tinkling piano. The subject in “My Girl,” is, after all, his high-school sweetheart (now wife), Blair. He showed more hometown appreciation with the rave-up “Nothing to Do Town,” which celebrates the virtues of making your own fun while identifying some regional staples like cussing, praying, and turning up the Brooks & Dunn. You can trace Scott’s country roots back to his home, too; his father was a guitar player for country singers Freddy Fender and Freddie Hart. In 2019, after the success of the Nothing to Do Town EP, he once again looked to his past for inspiration, paying tribute to one of his heroes with An Old Memory, a collection of traditionally minded covers of songs by the late country star Keith Whitley.
