Mitch Mitchell

Mitch Mitchell made rock history as the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, his outsized drumming style helping to establish the template for the rock power trio. He had played with Georgie Fame and others before Hendrix, and after the guitar hero's tragically early death, Mitchell formed the group Ramatam, with whom he recorded one album before departing. He did session work with a variety of artists for the next couple of decades, before going into semi-retirement. Mitchell died in 2008 at the age of 62.
