About John Lee Hooker, Jr.
If it’s true that, as some say, the blues is in one’s blood, then John Lee Hooker Jr. has the blues coursing through him. The son of blues legend John Lee Hooker, Jr. got an early start, playing live with his father before he was 10, and touring with him regularly throughout his teens. Hooker seemed set to enter a career in music, but instead ended up grappling with substance abuse issues for over two decades. He eventually rehabilitated and released his long overdue debut, BLUES WITH A VENGENCE, in 2004. COLD AS ICE (2006) refined his smooth, stylish, R&B-influenced take on the down-home Delta sound, as did subsequent recordings.
