About Keely Smith

Vocalist Keely Smith was a singer of jazz and popular music best known for her duo act with Louis Prima in the 1950s. The couple (then a husband-and-wife team) was a fixture in the hotel clubs of Las Vegas, as the deadpan Smith played straight man to Prima's antics between their spirited versions of tunes such as "That Ol' Black Magic" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." After divorcing Prima in 1961, Smith released a number of Nelson Riddle-arranged solo albums on Reprise that showcased her strong voice and stylish approach. She retired from the entertainment industry throughout the '70s, but made a comeback in 1985, and continued to record and perform music into the 2000s.
