Mystic Djim

Mystic Djim is a major figure in the current music scene in Cameroon, if not the most important. He is a reggae singer (though without dreadlocks, which are a signal of drug usage in Cameroon), but more importantly he is the major producer in the music circles of the country. He owns and operates Mystic Djim's Mobile Studio, which provides the recording technology necessary, and moreover the drum machines that have taken over the sound of current Cameroonian music. If one wants to look into music in Cameroon, Mystic Djim is probably a good starting point, whether or not it's actually his album – he probably provides the music for seven out of ten cassettes on the bikutsi market. ~ Adam Greenberg
