About Nicolas Bernier

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Until about 10 years old, I was ONLY listening to movie soundtracks and I didn't even knew there was actually musical artists! I still have my first audio tape: a compilation of Miami Vice, Dallas and Dynasty 80s TV series. Kitsch and influential. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Ghosteen Portishead, Dummy / Portishead The Roots, Things Fall Apart Ghosteen have so much grief but yet so much light. Brilliantly deconstructing song writing with ambient structures and textures. Dummy was a game changer towards electronic music. Things Fall Apart is just perfect. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Fiction 2 (feat. Beans)” I usually make instrumental explorations and this was the first time I commissioned words to a poet. When I received the text I almost cried: I couldn't believe I was the only one to know the existence of the text and the one who made it happened. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Just the fact that toured for 10 years with hard-edge music without making any commercial compromise. Playing in festivals like Mutek Barcelona, Mutek Japan et LEV Gijon we're amazing moments. Wining Prix Ars Electronica was unbelivable. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I also work as a visual/digital artist making audiovisual installations and finding new ways to perform abstract electronic sound on a stage. I run a 10 piece ensemble on vintage oscillators and synthesizers. University professor in electronic music
