About Sweet Female Attitude

The UK’s Sweet Female Attitude got their start in 1999 as a pop-R&B group fronted by singers Leanne Brown and Catherine Cassidy, with producer/songwriters Mike Powell and Martin Green (a.k.a. DJ Shine MC) in the background. But when UK garage producer Sunship (a.k.a. Ceri Evans) put his spin on their debut single, “Flowers,” they became one of the biggest acts in the nascent dance-music movement. Sunship’s subsequent mixes of songs like “8 Days a Week” kept the group popular in garage circles, but their 2001 debut album, In Person, has just as much in common with the syncopated, effervescent beats that artists like Timbaland and The Neptunes were masterminding around the turn of the millennium. Sweet Female Attitude took a break after their initial burst of fame, but since 2017, following some lineup changes, they’ve been back in the game, turning out bubbly club tunes for garage revivalists.
