Editors’ Notes

This impressive double album showcases Prince’s virtuosity as both a songwriter and a musician. He brings muscular pop-rock to “Little Red Corvette”, drops a synth-funk anthem in “D.M.S.R.” and plays chicken-scratch guitar over the eight-minute groove of “Lady Cab Driver”. His edgy sexual bravado is matched by a pervasive sense of alienation, underscored by robotic production on tracks like “Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)”. Still, on apocalyptic party track “1999”, he affirms that even in the face of a nuclear extinction, the human spirit will endure.

I love this album, yes there are the radio hits but there is so much more here,"something in the water" is fantastic and DMSR is pure funk!

one of his best..

this album is defs worth listening to, the highlights of 1999 being little red corvette, 1999, and delirious. Worth listening to!

two thousand zero zero

how can you not go past 1999 !! I've been listening to this album ever since it came out in 1982 and it still funks, jams and slithers. From the mega title track, you will travel through some of the best music that his royal badness can muster .. something in the water, lady cab driver, all the critics, let's pretend we're married, automatic surpass anything from 1982 and in many ways, anything since. So put on your best panties and turn up the volume for some serious spins and high kicks .. owawa !!

Not only did he release a series of groundbreaking albums; he toured frequently, produced albums and wrote songs for many other artists, and recorded hundreds of songs that still lie unreleased in his vaults. With each album he released, Prince has shown remarkable stylistic growth...
