All fall down, then Lets stand up

Shawn has returned with an album more personal than anything she has done, well so it seems. From the rocking opening of All fall down, through heartbreaking songs such as Seven times the charm and Anne of the thousand days, the album flows so effortlessly it hard to imagine the pain that must have been involved writing these songs.
Always a songwriter who lets you know in the first lines what we are in for, this latest release goes straight to the heart.
A rare talent indeed. Thank you Shawn.

Shawn Colvin is one of the leading lights of the so-called "new folk movement" that began in the late '80s. Although she grew out of the somewhat limited "woman with a guitar" school, she kept the form fresh with a diverse approach, avoiding the genre's clichéd sentiments and all-too-often formulaic arrangements in favor of a more personal, pop-influenced style.
