Bonus Track Blackmail

The album is thoroughy excellect, though once agin iTunes is holding a Bonus Track for ransom. Blackmailing us into purchasing an inferior download for the sake of the Bonus Track. I bought the CD anyway - iTunes should wake up and realise that they would make as much money selling more of these Bonus Tracks alone than alienating potential sales, as more and more people are less likely to fall for it.


RR's new album is a move away from their old stuff (probably due to Adrian's departure and new guitarist Brad from the Vines), less heavy guitar, more subtlety and layers to the songs. And can definitely hear a new range of influences (the cure is clearly in there). First listen I thought it was ok, but after a few run-throughs the delicacies of some truly beautiful melodies whittled their way into my head. I now find myself humming random songs from the album all day. There are some great lyrics in there too. Not every track is a winner, but the ones that are good are really really good.

For the young at heart... Ordinary reminds me of Boys Don't Cry by the Cure and I can definitely see some of The Church influences.

In 2002, Alex Grigg and Adrian Deutsch met at a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club concert, discovered their musical tastes aligned, and decided to form a band. Both were guitarists, singers, and songwriters. Deutsch recommended his old friend Mathew Chapman, who was then living in New Zealand, as a bass player.
