Album Review

Two albums in is a little bit quick for a live album from Panic at the Disco, but in a strange way ...Live in Chicago comes at a good time for the quartet, as its 2008 album was such a studio-created salute to the Beatles that it raised the question as to whether the band could pull it off on-stage. Turns out, this live set — available as almost any live album is in a CD/DVD package featuring the full set as a CD and a DVD for a home theater — proves that they can, albeit not quite as beguilingly as they do in the confines of the studio. The absurd grandeur of Pretty. Odd is replaced with a nervy but clean energy more reminiscent of their debut, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, with those songs given more of a professional punch than they had on record. So, the young band is still feeling its way, but the surprising thing about ...Live in Chicago is that Panic at the Disco sound tight, melodic, and big, capable of filling a large stage. They still could rock just a bit harder, but Pretty. Odd suggests that they're becoming that rare thing in 2008: a pop-oriented rock band. They might not be doing this knowingly, but the results are entertaining all the same, even on this for-the-fans live set.

Don't know what you're talking about!

Panic! At The Disco are one of the only bands who can sing live. If they were the same as the originals, what would be the point of buying them?!? every track has a different perspective to the studio tracks and a real warmth to them. If you like p!atd, definately buy it!

I LOVE Panic! At the Disco, but I hate this album

Panic! At the Disco is probably my favorite band, however, this, I hate, they have destroyed their songs while live, I was on their site recently, and I was listening to the Live I write Sins not Tragidies song, absolutly RUBISH, i listen to this, hate it, that song you are meant to be able to dance and listen to with the volume up, the live cover, nothing like the origional, trust me this album is $17 you will NEVER get back.

This is amazing! I love panic! At the disco's live performances. AMAING

Formed: 2005 in Las Vegas, NV

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The members of Panic! At the Disco had barely graduated high school when their full-length debut, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, transformed the suburban Las Vegas teens into national emo-pop stars. The band had materialized several years earlier, when friends Spencer Smith (drums) and Ryan Ross (guitar) began covering blink-182 tunes together. After tiring of playing another group's material, they recruited two additional classmates, guitar/vocalist Brendon Urie and bassist Brent Wilson, and the newly...
