Album Review

Mudvayne's self-titled album is slightly heavier than 2008's The New Game, but it still features songs that sound like a combination of Linkin Park and Tool — churning basslines, the occasional tribal-inspired rhythm, angsty roaring, and crooned choruses. However, there are some surprises on Mudvayne, like a surprisingly Slash-like guitar solo on "Closer" and the death metal intro to the Slipknot-esque "I Can't Wait," which recalls Mudvayne of old, moving in the direction of progressive rock while remaining extremely heavy.

Mudvayne! back in devistating form...yes!

Just over a year after releasing 2008's "The New Game", which was met with mixed reviews, Mudvayne hit back like a Mac truck with the most mature album to date. With equal parts bone crushing, syncopated madness, and dischordant harmony the "Ill noise from Illinois" have produced one of 2009's stand out metal albums.

2 good!!!!the real mudvayne is back

Weird and extremly heavy, the best new metal album I've heard since slipknot Iowa and korns take a look in the mirror,it's been a long time since something rough and smooth yet new and very fat and wholsome was produced,it sounds like their tearing themselves apart and are loveing it,not for the weak but still so technicaly respected, congrats boys for a brilliant non pop pure album!!!!I love it right up till the end!!!!my system is pumping again, with a little influence of pantera, legends!!!!

Still got it!!!!

Love this album as always mudvayne deliver a flawless blend of heavy and smooth a must for all fans!!

The group's original bassist was replaced after two years by Ryknow (Ryan Martinie). During their development, the bandmembers began the practice of applying bizarre makeup.
