iTunes Review

On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin came back to fiery life for a 16-track set in London, documented in the concert film/album Celebration Day. With the late John Bonham’s son Jason on drums, the band do their famous catalogue proud while continuing to tinker. “Black Dog” becomes more lurching than driving; “Stairway to Heaven” is made stunningly intimate. Given that Zep did so much to transform the blues, it’s no surprise that their own songs refuse to remain the same.

Got the set with 2 CD's AND the Blu-ray of the show for 24 bucks. These prices here are for the lazy and ignorant. No packaging, and inferior quality audio.

4 stars are for the music only.

Celebration Day

This band should stay retired simply because there is no way they could ever do a better farewell concert, in fact I doubt any band could. Star of the show without doubt is Jimmy Page who's obviously spent the last 30 years getting better and better and who is and always was the real frontman of this band (with the greatest respect to Robert Plant). Share in the obvious joy of Jason Bonham who is having one of the proudest nights of his life banging in his old mans band - you can feel it. Absolutely the best version of Kashmir ever performed live or recorded is in this show, I'll wear it out. They don't and never did need a large stage as they play as they always did, 3 blokes jamming in front of a Bonham drum kit, the stage could end at the drum kit as that's where you'll find them. Modern bands take note that can't play live what they put down on record without an entourage of back up musicians and singers, this is just the four of them for the whole show - Robert, Jimmy, Paul and Jason AND THAT'S IT, nobody else plays as much as a triangle as the band's the band and nobody else is needed. And on a final note, John Paul Jones & William Defoe - seperated at birth.

If you're a Zep fan you MUST have this, if you're just a Zep appreciater you MUST have this, even if you're just a music fan you should.... MUST have this.

Celebration Day

The best rock band EVER fronted by the best male singer EVER.. Shame that Bonzo was not still with us, but great just the same.

What the Beatles were to the '60s, Led Zeppelin were to the '70s: a band so successful and innovative they wound up creating the prism through which their entire epoch was seen. Zeppelin ushered in the era of album rock -- they refused to release singles off their albums, even when they were garnering massive radio play -- and of arena rock, playing ever-larger stadiums as their ticket sales skyrocketed. Other bands played on a similar field but Led Zeppelin carried a unique mystique cultivated by...
