Review of Chimera

I realise that CHIMERA was something of a dissapointment to many Delerium fans, but I'd still rather listen to Delerium than most of the stuff out there on offer. Delerium (in their early days) produced dark, reflective music. This album, though, tackles love. Love, as a subject, is probably always going to upset people, because if you're like me, you're sick of hearing about positive power and smootchy love. And if you've enjoyed the darker side of Delerium, it's doubtful you want to hear a bunch of babyish women singing about love in true pop radio style. However, there is still a subtle dark side to this album that I think many people missed when they dismissed it. The album is very disjointed and confused, which is probably why they called it CHIMERA (a monster made of ill-fitting parts). Delerium is still one of favourite bands. Who else but them has been all over the (musical) world? I never know what they'll bring out next. You can't say that about many bands.
