iTunes Editors' Notes

Most people saw Susan Boyle via the internet when her magic moment went viral, setting an online record for being watched over 100 million times in nine days. In that epic performance, the then 48- year-old Scotish woman took the world by surprise, making everyone feel both elated and disappointed — elated that such a heavenly voice could come from her and disappointed in ourselves for being so surprised. Boyle’s debut album I Dreamed a Dream is simply stunning. Here she confidently and comfortably opens with an exquisite rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” this version sounding even more gossamer than the Sundays’ 1992 cover. The title track (her star song) follows sounding much like her televised performance, though now under the studio microscope, every little lovely nuance of her amazingly controlled inflections is audible. She heats up Arthur Hamilton’s “Cry Me a River” and though her Carpenters-esque take on “Daydream Believer” is a bit out of place, Boyle’s cover of Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World” is alone worth the price of admission.

Beautiful

I had my doubts due to the hype, but I must say this album is beautiful! Her voice, though not technically perfect, has a lovely warmth and true emotion! U feel the pain and the joy and believe every word she sings! They have been very truthful with the sound of her voice, her phrasing not always perfect and some notes are not spot on, but that's not a bad thing! It's great to hear an album where auto tune hasn't corrected every single word sung, she has character..... She is real! A diamond in the rough....... I hope she has people around her who have good intentions, she has a gift, I think she is an inspiration! Follow your dreams, they can come true!

I Dreamed a Dream

I just downloaded this without even listening to any of the 30 second clips, put it on the iPhone and connected to the main stereo system..... Wow! This is a fantastic album! From Rolling Stones to Les Miserables, from Monkees to the hymn How Great Thou Art and ending up with Silent Night this is a brilliant album. What a voice and such brilliant arrangements. We sat there and let the music flow...,and flow...., and flow. But this album if you want to hear a great voice, great arrangements and great music. Worth every cent.

A beautiful album

This is a beautiful album that showcases Susan's beautiful voice with it's real emotional backdrop. I am so pleased that this album has been completed and I wish Susan the very best for her future. The choice of tracks allows Susan to demonstrate her range and consistency, and appear to be amongst Susan's favourites each with a history that is personal and provides her with a genuine emotional component for each song.

Biography

Born: 01 April 1961 in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Amateur vocalist Susan Boyle became an overnight sensation after appearing on the first round of 2009's popular U.K. reality show Britain's Got Talent. Boyle, who was born in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland in 1961, caught the judges (and the world) off guard with her masterful rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Misérables, due in part to the unemployed and undeniably plain church volunteer's "salt of the earth" demeanor and country spinster back story. Boyle attempted a singing...
