Good fun

Firstly, a small negative - the arrangements are conservative and at times too laid back, successfully copying the sound of the originals, but sometimes lacking their spark. I would have preferred a bit more daring, a bit more funkiness. BUT, they've spent the money to stay true to the original disco sound - using real strings and real brass. And Marcia sounds great. If you're old enough to remember her when she was our Queen of Pop, listen to Never Can Say Goodbye and you can easily imagine it being recorded 25 years ago rather than in '06 (that's meant to be a compliment). So even though the album is a little daggy at times, it's good fun the whole way, and very easy to listen to. Nice to see our one (and only) disco queen back at her roots. If this album sells well, I wonder if there'll be a Discotheque II, or better still, how about a collaboration with someone along the lines of Paul Mac?

disco diva

Welcome back to the dancefloor our girl Marcia. Discotheque will have you bopping around your bedroom floor with your mirror ball and platform shoes for hours. What a fine singer this country has embraced. All we need is for itunes too get more of her releases here...... Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, GIRL YOU ARE A TRUE DIVA.

boring girlfriend

The originals of all the tracks are better sound hotter and more innovative then marcias takes on them, i dont understand why u would bring out an album of great originals and make em sound like they never made it, and make em sound tacky and dull. bad move marcia find some fresh original material of your own that you can make a dancefloor hit.
