Album Review

Kaiser Chiefs issued their fourth album, The Future Is Medieval, after a three-year silence following the 2008 release of Off with Their Heads. The innovative Leeds outfit launched a "create your own album" interactive download service allowing fans to create their own ten-track record from a choice of 20 songs and to design the cover art. The CD features 13 of these tracks and includes the single “Little Shocks,” which introduces a darker sound led by an eerie keyboard riff and Ricky Wilson’s distinctive vocal., Rovi

Quirky but good

This is not the Kaisers best album but it shows a wider range of skill for them and contains many experimental songs that work very well, standout tracks include little shocks, out of focus and dead or in serious trouble
I would recommend this album to all kaiser fans, I thoroughly enjoyed it :)

ummmm well I guess its OK

I wrote a stinging review way back when this album first came out but it wasn't published. Luckily, because after a few listens this album started to grow on me. Its not what we've become used to from the Kaiser Chiefs and I suppose its a good thing that they are trying to evolve. "Long way from Celebrating" is a song that throws back to previous days of the Chiefs. "Starts with Nothing" is a catchy track. Unfortunatley there is a little bit of dead wood on the album. I'm still looking forward to catching them live in August as they are still one of the best live acts going around today.

Kaisers new album

This album takes several listens before you get it. After a dozen listens I think it's one of the best set of tracks I have heard from this band. Each track is masterful and thought through and the sound is big. Production is better than any of their past records and just adds to the new sound.

That's my thoughts anyway.

Specializing in a melodic blend of classic Brit-pop, post-punk, and new wave, Kaiser Chiefs' early blue-collar, pub-style take on indie rock managed to split the difference between timely and nostalgic. Comprising vocalist Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick Baines, and drummer Nick Hodgson, Kaiser Chiefs resurrected the mod spirit of the Jam in "I Predict a Riot," a supercharged class-of-1977 power pop single that quickly electrified the British press when it...
