iTunes Review

There's no sense trying to describe Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu's vocal performance on this moving record in typical musical terms. His soft but vibrant style brings to mind more expansive words, like sublime, spiritual and transcendent. Singing in his native Aboriginal language of Yolngu, he’s blessed with a delivery that feels warm, genuine and utterly unaffected, whether it's buoyed by background singers on the touching "Djarimirri" or presented unadorned on the beautifully sparse "Wiyathul".

Absolutely awsome!

What a credit to this wonderfully talented artist. Blind from birth, he was exceptional even as a small child, always happy and laughing and always tapping and singing away to any song he heard. He taught himself to play guitar and keyboard as a kid and grew up to jam with some of the best in the business. His incredible passion for his music and determination to overcome all obstacles in his way makes him truly inspirational. This is just the beginning of much greater things to come. Marrkapmi Dhuway, you do Australia proud!

My daughter works for Skinnyfish Music and she sent me this C.D. It is not the type of music that I would usually listen to, I'm a seventies girl so my music is definitely different to this. But I am hooked, Geoffrey's music is great and his voice is beautiful. I would highly recommend this album to anyone.

Geaoffreys music touches and opens the heart.

From the Yolngu people, Yunupingu took up with a relative's band, the influential Yothu Yindi, where he stayed as a keyboard player for seven years during the band's peak time. Eventually leaving to form his own group (the short-lived Saltwater), Yunupingu...
