Named after its three members, brothers Nacho and José María Cano and vocalist Ana Torroja, this 2008 compilation is a comprehensive retrospective of one of Spain's most successful pop acts. Gathering material from their 17-year career, it includes tracks from their 1982 self-titled debut ("Perdido en Mi Habitacion") right up to 1991's Aidalai ("Naturaleza Muerta"). A techno-pop band from Spain, Mecano were formed in the early '80s by brothers Nacho and José María Cano, who were joined by singer Ana Torroja. While the Spanish new wave, known as Movida Madrileña, was at its highest level of popularity, Mecano burst into the local scene with "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar," a single released by CBS in 1981.
