Heureka is the sixth full-length issued by German indie rock band Tomte. Named after a mythical creature from Northern European folklore, Tomte were equally influenced by Brit-pop (Oasis, Blur) and lo-fi indie rock from America (Pavement) as well as German band Tocotronic, whose straightforward guitar pop contributed to creating a so-called "Hamburger scene" of independent guitar bands, of which Tomte are considered a part. Heureka was issued in 2008 and marked the first time the band worked with a new keyboard player.

Wielding a moody indie sound heavily influenced by Hamburger Schule bands like Tocotronic and Brit-pop acts like Pulp, Tomte formed in Hamburg, Germany, in 1991 and, following a few minor lineup changes, were eventually comprised of Thees Uhlmann, Dennis Becker, Oliver Koch, Timo Bodenstein, and Max Schroder. Tomte released their first EP, Blinkmuffel, in 1996. The band's debut full-length, Du Weisst, Was Ich Meine, followed two years later, and another full-length, Eine Sonnige Nacht, hit stores...
