iTunes Review

Concert for George presents an all-star cast paying tribute to George Harrison a year after his death, on November 29, 2002, at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Eric Clapton served as musical director and contributes many fine performances of Harrison’s most beloved compositions (“If I Needed Someone”, “Beware of Darkness”). Paul McCartney teams with Clapton for a dramatic interpretation of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. He begins “Something” on ukulele, an instrument that McCartney claims was of great amusement to Harrison, and remains in top form, putting great emotion behind “All Things Must Pass”. Ringo Starr belts out “Photograph”, his Harrison-penned hit, and “Honey Don’t”, a Carl Perkins number once performed with The Beatles. This edition includes “Horse to the Water”, an impressive unreleased original penned by George and his son Dhani, and performed by Sam Brown and Jools Holland. Harrison’s interest in Indian music is emphasised with performances by his mentor Ravi Shankar’s daughter Anoushka, who collaborates with Jeff Lynne for a faithful reading of “The Inner Light”. It’s clearly a night put together with great love and affection for a much missed musician.

Emotional and lovely

Great Singers, Great Friends and Great Show. All of George Harrison's mates from all over the world came down to London to give a speciel tribute to him such as Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston and many more. Love them and respect them and also George Harrison :)

Great Showcase

A great showcase of talent brought together to give a tribute to George. Early music with Indian influence is interesting and at best is of historical value. However the essence of George is the anthology of his recordings that show a great talent that really was overshadowed by the Beatles. The best track is undoubably Sam Brown whose raw bluesy talent perhaps best reflects what George was about. A great one for a quiet Saturday night wit the lights down.

Love the beatles
