Brilliant, inspiring and melodic

Whitley builds on the charm and charisma of his first album and takes it to a new level of brilliance with go forth find mammoth. His song writing skills, musical arrangements and harmonies make this album a must have. Well done Whitley staying true to his originality and folk style.

A must buy

After hearing Whitley play 'Head, First, Down' at a gig at the start of the year, I'd been waiting patiently for this new album ever since. I'd almost forgotten he was working on it until its October 30 release, and it has proved well worth the wait. Featuring more drums than his tracks from 'The Submarine', some songs on this album have a faster tempo and would probably appeal to a slightly more mainstream audience; however Whitley has not strayed too far from his folk origins so fans won't be disappointed. 'Go Forth, Find Mammoth' has some very catchy tunes that you'll have stuck in your head for days. 'Head, First, Down', 'Killer', 'The Piece You Took From Me' and 'Bluebird' are by far his best tracks yet. I've not stopped listening to this since I bought it. Kudos Whitley. A must buy.

Go Forth, Find AWESOME!

Like most people, my first introduction to Whitley was with the most excellent I Remember, that wonderful hit on Triple J a few years ago. I never bothered with The Submarine, as listening to it at friend's places didn't create much of a stir inside of me, but when I first heard Head First Down on the radio last year, I was completely shocked. The directness and power of the composition, and the sheer awesome nature of it was truly inspiring. Still, I didn't buy the album when it first came out. Yet on Friday night, I found myself in a funny sort of mood, and I went to the Whitley MySpace and listened to Bright White Light, and again, that same feeling rushed back into me. I bought the album the next day and have been listening to it non-stop since. At first, it can almost seem like it is somewhat repetitive, but the album is a complete piece from start to finish, and one that draws alluringly on familiar styles and patterns which evolve slowly from one track to the next. The simple elegance of the lyrics with the straightforward guitar and drum loops resonate on deeper levels than pure intellect. Go Forth, Find Mammoth is by far the most interesting record I've heard so far this year.
