Good - as long as it's not supposed to be music.

I can very much tell that opinions of this album will vary a lot. Here's why. This is different from anything else I know of. Most of the songs are too bland to qualify as "music" ("What is this junk?" I first thought). But even so, I DID find myself very much enjoying some of it. It has such an interesting futuristic sound to it. It has been said that this is the "SOUND of the future" and I can very much understand why people would feel this way. However if this is the MUSIC of the future then I am very concerned and worried about the future of music. So rather than thinking of it as music, best to just enjoy it for what it is... if you can.
Unfortunately there are a few tracks on this album that qualify as music. I say unfortunately because they only just qualify, so that makes them quite terrible when compared to the other, far better music out there. "XXXO" is certainly music, although I'd say it's really just a mainstream track thrown in there to get the album on the radio.
I congratulate M.I.A. for trying something new. I just hope it gets its own genre called "non-music" so that it doesn't ruin the face of music completely.

Dissapointment

I was waiting for this album for awhile, but it's an utter disspointmnet. Only the XXX0 track is 'listenable'.

shes back

M.I.A is back with a new amazing album
definetly for anyones ipod :)

If you don't read a lot about new music on the web, the preceding sentence indicates how bewildering and draining the chatter about M.I.A. became. Arular, M.I.A.'s first album, leaked well before its official release, allowing...
