Customer Reviews

Awesome album. Best one to date.

Simply Brilliant. Nice work The Lincoln! going to enjoy this for a long long time.

Hospital Gold

High Contrast has not disappointed with this, his latest release. Every song on the record is pure gold, with the exception of "sleepless" which could pass as "DJ Fresh - Matador" with a few drinks under your belt :-D. The rest of the record however is beautify crafted, old school flavours are accounted for with "The Ghost of Jungle Past" which is infectious like any good old school tune, the vocal sample seems to fit perfectly with it. Soon to be anthems such as "Metamorphosis" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" are complimented by soulful inclusions like "Chances" and "If We Ever" (which has the amazing Diane Charlemagne on vocals). All in all the best release to date from hospitals top artist, and that’s saying something. YT

Hit the Trifecta!

High Contrast has not necessarily outdone himself here, but he's certainly produced an album of consistent quality, when compared with his first two. Whilst not breaking any new ground, he's made an album that certainly pleases. On this LP you'll find a tighter version of the 12" version of 'Everything's Different', the first single off this album. The next two singles, "If We Ever" and "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (a take on the working title of one of Iron Butterfly's demo recordings for "In The Garden of Eden", that subsequently stuck) are pure balm to the eardrums. Drum n' Bass is all about recycling and evolving musical and cultural references to a fascinating bassline, some rambling beats and the odd lyrical flourish;High Society always does this cleverly and with grand panache, this album being no exception to the rule.

Seemingly overnight, High Contrast became one of the most discussed drum'n'bass producers in years. Not since the late '90s, when Goldie and Roni Size were recording full-length albums rather than strictly tracks, had there been so much hype thrown upon a drum'n'bass producer's shoulders. The man behind the moniker -- Cardiff, Wales native Lincoln Barrett -- remained humble despite the hype, taking it in stride. He was only 22 when he recorded True Colors, an ambitious double-disc debut album many...
