iTunes Review

Behind the shambolic splendor of a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance is a tightly coiled symbiosis of musicianship. The band grapples with themes of life and death on I’m With You, an album born from the ashes of a friend’s fatal overdose. Bringing a subtle style, Josh Klinghoffer has replaced John Frusciante as guitarist, but the band still retains its unmistakable Chili Pepper flavor. The totemic lead single, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” soars and bops with magnitude

Refreshing change but still classic RHCP

What a different album! Each day a new song becomes a favorite and gets stuck in my head. Everyone stepped up their game with Johns departure and Josh is really different in style. I feel there is no massive single on the album, with a less mainstream sound and choruses that don't immediately hook. Some songs need a couple of listens. In terms of weaknesses I think there is too much repetition in the choruses, and confusing solos from Josh. The rest of his playing is great, and his vocals are very 'Empire of the Sun'. Overall it is a vastly different album, which I welcome. While truly amazing albums, from Californication to By the Way and Stadium the Chilis sound became too defined and set. This is what they need at this point. Give this album a good chance and you will find so much. I do hope John returns at some point ( and he probably will ) but Josh should also stay if that were to happen. Great job, 5 stars.

Meh :(

I'm afraid to say it, But i think they may have lost their touch… i doubt the album will have many hits. It sounds like One hot minute and By the way mixed together? They really need john back it's just not the same without him.

Perfection in song!

Music does not get more beautiful than this! RHCP have done it again.. Thank you & welcome aboard Josh!

Few rock groups of the '80s broke down as many musical barriers and were as original as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Creating an intoxicating new musical style by combining funk and punk rock together (with an explosive stage show to boot), the Chili Peppers spawned a slew of imitators in their wake, but still managed to be the leaders of the pack by the dawn of the 21st century. The roots of the band lay in a friendship forged by three school chums, Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary, and Hillel Slovak,...
