An extremely fun album

I urge all hardcore Battles fans to not be put off by the departure of Tyondai Braxton, and to embrace an evolved Battles. The songs are as complex and quirky as ever, and they've got some great guest vocalists to boot.


Brilliant Album!


With Braxton gone it has created space for the others to grow. Solid beats, wicked licks, loops and an expansive textural array of sounds, this is one fine album to racket down the ages. And they do a mean live show to boot. Best thing since god knows when! Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Crafting challenging yet engaging experimental rock that builds on its members' legacies, Battles features drummer John Stanier of Helmet and Tomahawk, guitarist/keyboardist Ian Williams of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress, and guitarist David Konopka of Lynx. Avant solo musician Tyondai Braxton joined the group for its early recordings, including the Tras and EP C EPs, which were both released in June 2004 on Cold Sweat and Monitor, respectively. The B EP followed on Dim Mak in September 2004....
